Proudly supported by CRDC, the PICSE Science Investigation Awards brought together 76 primary and high schools students from five schools in the Narrabri Shire, with researchers from Narrabri's various research bodies, including the Australian Cotton Research Institute and the I.A. Watson Wheat Research Centre last week.
The students had to present their science experiments to a panel of judges, including CRDC's General Manager of R&D Investment, Ian Taylor, and undertake a number of science and engineering challenges, including constructing a tower, identifying various plants and their seeds, and finding the DNA of a strawberry.
The judges were extremely impressed by the calibre of all the entrants in this year's Challenge. Pictured here are students from Wee Waa Primary School, with their entry 'A raincoat for Banjo Bear.' The winners will be announced in early October.
